Overview

Calihan Pork Processors, an American Foods Group company, has an opportunity for an On-the-job Trainer at our plant in Peoria, IL. You must have the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a dedication to quality. 

 

Summary

Responsible for on-the-job training including side-by-side training for assigned new hires and retraining transferred existing employees.

 

As our On-the-job Trainer, you will:

  • Train new hires and existing employees to perform assigned position(s) within established guidelines and timeframe.
  • Assist and work with the production trainer.
  • Participate in creating standardized training approaches and materials.
  • Enforce all company-required safety policies and procedures.
  • Monitor new hires’ work practices for safety and quality workmanship.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures and safety requirements, including documentation of attendance.
  • Submit all required administrative paperwork and reports on schedule.
  • Attend and participate in meetings as required to identify training needs.
  • Achieve new hire retention goal.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • At least 3 months of related work experience or prior trainer experience.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in Spanish (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • Must be able to work in a variety of work temperatures cold, wet, or damp environment with slippery surfaces at varied heights in and around moving equipment and parts.
  • Ability to work extended scheduled hours Monday through Saturday with daily overtime. Must be able to work overtime as required. Start times and hours vary based on production needs.
  • Must be able to successfully complete training:
    • Safety.
    • Safe Quality Food (SQF).
    • Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
    • Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP).
    • Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
    • Food defense.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Potential on and desire to be a future lead or foreperson.
  • Computer skills for reporting and ability to use Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
